Mining

Teldaria adds four custom ores to the world: Noctium, Emberium, Celestium and Sylvarium. Each one spawns in its own set of biomes, so finding a particular ore means travelling to the right part of the map. The ingots they make go into nearly every Mining Recipe, including the gems, rare gems and runes you socket into your gear.

The Four Ores

The ores are listed from most to least common. Each has biomes where it spawns often, and a second set where it turns up less frequently.

Ore Main biomes Less common in
Noctium All ocean biomes Plains, birch forests, flower forests and cherry groves
Emberium Deserts and badlands Savannas, beaches and mushroom fields
Celestium Snowy slopes, snowy taiga, frozen peaks and ice spikes Snowy plains, snowy beaches, stony peaks, windswept hills and dark forests
Sylvarium Jungles, lush caves and dripstone caves Forests, windswept forests and meadows

Noctium is the easiest ore to stock up on. Sylvarium is the rarest, so expect to spend longer in the jungle for it.

Where to Dig

Every ore comes in a stone version and a deepslate version, and each sits at its own depth. The rarer ores also need a better pickaxe.

Ore In stone In deepslate Pickaxe needed
Noctium Y 20 to 70 Y -55 to -25 Iron or better
Emberium Y 15 to 65 Y -64 to 8 Diamond or better
Celestium Y 38 to 98 Y -26 to -14 Iron or better
Sylvarium Y 0 to 21 Y -34 to 8 Netherite

What the Ores Are For

Mining a custom ore gives you its raw ore. Smelt the raw ore to turn it into an ingot, which is what the recipes use.

The Mining Recipes page lists all 58 Miner recipes. Open the same list in game with /mrecipes. The custom ores show up in three ways:

Gems and runes never drop from mobs. Crafting them from these recipes is the only way to get them.

The Miner Job and Gathering Skill

Regular mining pays out in two separate systems:

The custom ores pay into neither: mining them earns no Miner job money and no Gathering XP. Mine them for the ingots, and level Miner and Gathering on regular stone and ores.
